Synopsis: At the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters in Kerala, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy pointed to the flaws in the INDIA bloc and spoke about AAP and Congress’ role in Haryana and Delhi poll debacles. He concluded that the BJP is benefitting from political dynamics. He also urged South India to unite for its constitutional rights, criticising the central government’s lack of support.

In a rare public display of disappointment with his own party and the larger Opposition bloc of INDIA, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy warned of BJP benefitting out of infighting and using it to ultimately implement problematic policy decisions.

At the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL) event in Kerala, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the “problem with the INDIA bloc”. He said, “Everyone is expecting everything. That is the biggest problem. We have seen in Delhi and Haryana. Kejriwal disturbed in Haryana where Congress was defeated (sic). Congress has done something in Delhi. Ultimately BJP is benefiting.”

He also made a strong call for South India to unite in defence of its constitutional rights, criticising the central government’s lack of support for the region.

“If Telangana becomes a $1 trillion economy, won’t that benefit the entire country?” he asked, expressing frustration over the government’s failure to back the state’s aspirations.

He also highlighted the lack of support for South Indian and non-NDA states in general.

Concern over ‘One Nation, One Election’

Focusing on two key issues, the Chief Minister pointed out that the proposed ‘One Nation, One Election’ and the upcoming delimitation were particularly concerning for the South.

“Why punish South India?” he questioned. “Is it because we implement family planning and welfare schemes more effectively than the North?”

Looking ahead, Revanth Reddy emphasised on the importance of planning for challenges like the central policies of ‘One Nation, One Election’ and the delimitation process.

“If they decide to base delimitation on population, the BiMaRU states—Bihar, MadhyaPradesh, Rajasthan, and UttarPradesh—could dominate and form the government,” he warned.
