Karnataka Steps Up War on Drugs with Statewide Training and Stricter Monitoring(Creative Commons)
Tirur in Malappuram is set to host the state-level concluding event of the ‘Kick Drugs, Say Yes to Sports’ anti-drug campaign on Thursday, 26 June.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the function at 3 pm at the Tirur Government Boys Higher Secondary School grounds.
The campaign, led by Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman under the State Sports Department, will begin with a reception at Perinthalmanna Town Square at 7 am.
A marathon with over 1,300 registered participants will flag off at 6 am, followed by a walkathon at 7 am.
Marathon winners will be awarded cash prizes of ₹15,000, ₹10,000, and ₹7,500 for the top three spots, with ₹2,000 for the next seven finishers.
All participants will receive medals, jerseys, certificates, and refreshments.
The event will see the participation of public representatives, cultural icons, athletes, students, and volunteers from across sectors.
