Synopsis: “When an attack was committed against me, I immediately complained to the police and went ahead demanding legal action. But some believes that I should have kept quiet and said nothing to anyone, saying that everything that happened that day was fate,” she wrote.

The survivor in the actress sexual assault case has come out with a strongly worded social media post, expressing anguish over continued cyber abuse and questioning the consequences she has faced for pursuing legal action.

In the post, she said that filing a police complaint immediately after the attack and demanding legal action is being perceived as a mistake by some.

“When an attack was committed against me, I immediately complained to the police and went ahead demanding legal action. But some believes that I should have kept quiet and said nothing to anyone, saying that everything that happened that day was fate,” she wrote.

Referring to the circulation of the assault video, the survivor said she was subjected to accusations and character assassination even after approaching the law.

She stated that if the video surfaced after a long gap, everyone would start blaming her for not reporting the crime, and that she was expected to remain silent even in the face of public shaming. “Later, when that video came out, I should have committed suicide without knowing what to say to those who accused me of not reporting this to the police,” the post read.

She referred to a video message released earlier by the second accused, who was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment in the case, and said that she was being maliciously portrayed as responsible for the crime itself. “I could have said that I was the one who made your naked video,” she wrote, underscoring the absurdity and cruelty of such allegations.

‘Let me live’

Condemning those spreading what she described as “perversions”, the survivor said she would not wish such an experience on anyone else.

“To those who say and spread such perversions, may this not happen to you or those in your house,” she said.

Ending the post on a note of appeal, the survivor rejected labels imposed on her and asked to be treated with basic humanity. “Not a victim, not a survivor, just a simple human being. Let me live,” she wrote.
