A budget of ₹3.78 crore has been approved for the 71st edition of the iconic Nehru Trophy Boat Race, to be held on August 30 at Punnamada Lake in Alappuzha.
The general body meeting of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race Society, chaired by District Collector Alex Varghese, finalised the financial plan on Friday.
The expected income includes ₹1 crore each from the state government and ticket sales, ₹1.15 crore through sponsorships, and a ₹50 lakh grant from the central government.
Expenditure allocations include ₹1.35 crore as bonuses for participating boat clubs, ₹21.5 lakh for maintenance, ₹61.5 lakh for infrastructure, ₹10 lakh for cultural programmes, and ₹8.94 lakh for publicity.
NTBR Society Secretary Sameer Kishan, ADM Asha C Abraham, Irrigation Executive Engineer Binu Baby, and former MLAs C.K. Sadasivan, K.K. Shaju, and A.A. Shukkur attended the meeting alongside other officials.
