Amid the power tussle in Karnataka, on Saturday, 29 November, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar visited Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s house for a breakfast meeting.
At the meeting held at Siddaramaiah’s official residence Kaveri, chief minister’s legal advisor and MLA AS Ponnanna also present.
Following the meeting, the chief minister and deputy chief minister addressed the media.
Siddaramaiah, speaking to the media, after the breakfast meet with DK Shivakumar said, “Myself and the KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar are united and there are no differences.”
Asked if the alleged 2.5 year power sharing agreement is there, the chief minister said, “Whatever the decision high command makes, both of us will abide by it.”
Reiterating that there are no differences between them, Siddaramaiah said, they have worked out a strategy to tackle the BJP in the upcoming Assembly session.
“Breakfast was good. Ponanna, DK Shivakumar and I had breakfast together. DK Shivakumar today came to my home. KC Venugopal phoned us yesterday to call DK over for breakfast. DK also got a call. As a matter of fact, DK called me to come over to his home.”
He further reiterated, “All of this is fake, from tomorrow we will fight together. Some of the media reporters have created confusion. Does not mean they (MLAs) are against the leadership by going to Delhi. Some came and spoke to me that they went to Delhi for a reason. We will follow the directions, instructions of the high command. This is what DK and I have decided.”
DK Shivakumar, speaking to the media said, “We had a breakfast meeting, chief minister will also come to my residence for lunch or dinner in the next few days.”
“We have worked together, the party workers across the state have supported us, and the people of Karnataka have blessed us with massive mandate. We have and will fulfil whatever promises were made to the people, as it is our duty. With the co-operation of everyone, we have been providing good governance.”
He further added, “We have also discussed regarding the 8 December Assembly session, how we are going to tackle the opposition party. As far as leadership issue is concerned, we go by what party high command says. We have been loyal soldiers of the the party. We know the party is in a difficult state in the country, but we are confident that Karnataka will take a major role, and will come to power in the state again in 2028, and take it give support for 2029 Lok Sabha elections.”
Adressing reporters questions about visiting Delhi, DK Shivakumar said, “If the party wants us to go, we will definitely go.”
Speaking on the no-confidence motion, Shivakumar added, “As far as the no-confidence motion is concerned, let them do, as they want time to discuss, and with the motion they can elaborately discuss. As opposition let them take whatever route, and oppose us, and as the ruling party we are here to answer them, the state and the country.”
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar also put out a post on X saying that the breakfast meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was, “A productive discussion on Karnataka’s priorities and the road ahead.”
