According to the complaint, the woman had borrowed ₹1 lakh from Reshma Banu around two years ago and another ₹50,000 from Nazrath Begum. After she allegedly fell behind on repayments and interest due to financial difficulties, she was called to Nazrath’s house in Gollarahatti on 27 August, with a promise of help finding employment.
The complainant alleged that Reshma, her husband Suhail and others assaulted her, including with a knife, before forcibly taking her and her minor son in an autorickshaw to a house near Kumbalgodu, where she was confined.
She alleged that she was subsequently assaulted, partially stripped and filmed on a mobile phone, with the accused threatening to circulate the video if she failed to pay money they claimed had risen to ₹11 lakh, including interest.
Her son was allegedly taken away the following day and dropped near her mother’s house. The woman also alleged that she was taken to a lawyer and forced to sign documents before being taken back to the Kumbalgodu house.
Her mother had meanwhile approached Chandra Layout Police after she went missing. Police eventually traced and rescued the woman after she managed to alert them from the house.
