Synopsis: An FIR was filed against unidentified individuals for assaulting two Muslim men, Zameer and Waseem Ahmed, in Bengaluru’s Sampigehalli on 22 June. The assailants allegedly beat them and forced Waseem to chant “Jai Shri Ram”. Waseem was hospitalized, and police registered the case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
An FIR has been registered against five to six unknown persons for assaulting two Muslim men in North Bengaluru’s Sampigehalli area, on Sunday, 22 June.
According to the FIR accessed by South First, the men were also allegedly forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram” by the assailants.
The victims in the case are Zameer, a mechanic and Waseem Ahmed, a rickshaw driver.
Zameer complained that both were travelling to Chokkanahalli via Sampigehalli Main Road when they stopped near an open plot between 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm on Sunday.
His complaint stated that they stopped their auto to relieve himself when he was approached by five to six unknown men, “They asked why we were there. When Waseem questioned them in return, they began abusing and assaulting us.”
“I managed to escape, but they continued attacking Waseem with a stick. As he shouted ‘Allah’ in fear and pain, they threatened him, demanding that he instead say ‘Jai Shri Ram’.”
According to reports, Waseen was sent to the Yelahanka hospital for examination by the Sampigehalli police before registering a case.
FIR has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 (U/s-126(2), 115(2), 118(1), 299, 352, 351(2), r/w 3(5)).
