Traffic restrictions in Bengaluru for St Mary’s Basilica chariot procession.

Synopsis: In view of the annual feast and procession of St Mary’s Basilica church chariot procession in Bengaluru, the Shivajinagar Traffic Police Station has made arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

In view of the annual feast and procession of St Mary’s Basilica chariot procession in Bengaluru on Monday, 8 September, the Shivajinagar Traffic Police Station has made arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

The police have also prohibited parking in the following places: Surroundings of Russel Market, Broadway Road, Meenakshi koil street, Central street, Shivaji road, Cunningham road in between Balekundry Circle and Chandrika hotel junction, Union street, Infantry road, Cubbon road, Hospital road, Lady Curzon road, VSN road, Plain street, MG road, Ramada hotel back side (old congress office) plain street.

Further, additional stops have also been provided for Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses.

Traffic restrictions and alternate arrangements

The police have made the following traffic restriction:

  • Movement of all types of vehicles is prohibited from Jyothi café to Russel Market.
  • Movement of all types of vehicles is prohibited from Broadway Road to Russel Market.
  • There will be no entry for vehicular traffic on Dharamaraja Koli Street from its junction with Old Poor House Road towards Russel Market (adjacent to Bhashyam Circle).
  • There will be no entry for vehicular traffic movement from the BRV junction on Cubbon Road towards Shivajinagar Bus Stand, from South to North, including BMTC buses.
  • There will be no entry for vehicular traffic movement from Balekundry Circle towards Shivajinagar Bus Stand, from West to East, including BMTC buses, from 2 pm onwards.

In view of the restriction, the police have also arranged alternative routes for vehicular traffic.

  • BMTC buses coming from Anil Kumble Junction need to take a left turn at BRV Junction and proceed via CTO-Queen’s Circle-MG Road.
  • Two-wheelers and light motor vehicles can proceed via BRV Central Street – right turn – Safina Plaza – Commercial Street – Kanwari Road.
  • Two-wheelers and light motor vehicles can also proceed via BRV Central Street – Select Junction – left turn – Ramada Hotel – VSN Road.

Parking arrangements have been made at the Kamaraj Road parking lot (opposite the Army School), Main Guard Cross Road (opposite Safina Plaza), Jasma Bhavan Road, RBAMS ground (Gandagar Chetty Road), and Muslim Orphanage, Dickenson Road (Next to Hasanth College).
