Teenager death Dakshina Kannada

A 16-year-old girl was found dead under a mysterious circumstance in the washroom of a house in the Kaliya village of the Belthangady taluka in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka on Saturday, 28 January.

The deceased was a resident of Kaniyur village. She was studying in Class 10 at Manshar Para Medical School.

The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, though it is suspected to be cardiac arrest. The body has been sent for autopsy, claimed the local police.

“The girl and her father had travelled to the Gerukatte school from their home on Saturday. Later, her father left her in Kuppetti and went to Mangaluru,” Belthangady Police Station Sub-Inspector Nandakumar MM told South First.

“She then used the washroom at a house in Aiman Arcade near the school at 9.15 am. The family members later noticed she had not come out for a long time. They checked through the window and found her lying unconscious on the floor,” said Nandakumar.

“The door was immediately broken open and the girl was administered Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) by the school principal. It is said that she got her pulse back and was rushed to a private hospital. The doctor declared her dead and then shifted her to the government hospital,” he added.

On the police complaint, PSI said, “The father of the deceased filed a complaint. It has been reported as a suspicious death. We have not found any injuries on the body of the deceased. We are waiting for the autopsy report.”

He added: “We have also found CCTV footage on the incident. The probe is underway.”

Nandakumar, however, denied any foul play in this death.
