Synopsis: The completion of digitisation marks the end of the data-entry phase of the SIR exercise. Officials clarified that voters flagged under the ASDDO category are not automatically deleted from the electoral rolls and will undergo further verification before any decision is taken.
Bengaluru North and South have completed 100 percent digitisation of voter verification forms collected under Karnataka’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, while the state’s overall digitisation has reached 99.56 percent, according to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office.
The remaining digitisation work across Karnataka is expected to be completed before the 8 August deadline.
Data released by the Election Commission showed that BBMP South, with 21.44 lakh electors, has 52.46 percent of voters classified under the ASDDO category (Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others), while BBMP North, with 23.32 lakh electors, has 48.32 percent ASDDO-tagged voters. Bengaluru Central recorded 49.38 peercent ASDDO voters among its 18.89 lakh electors.
Across Karnataka, 1,10,59,288 voters, or 19.95 percent of the electorate, have been identified under the ASDDO category for further field verification. The CEO’s office said soft and hard copies of the ASDDO lists will be shared with recognised political parties before 8 August to enable scrutiny and filing of objections before the electoral rolls are finalised.
