Siddaramaiah steps in as MLAs train guns at ‘inaccessible’ ministers

Synopsis: Complaining that the ministers were inaccessible, the legislators warned that they would be forced to speak in public if the situation remained unchanged. They also criticised the ministers for skipping the Assembly proceedings.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah instructed all ministers to attend the proceedings of both Houses.

“Members of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council should also actively participate in the proceedings,” he said at a Congress Legislative Council meeting in Bengaluru on Wednesday, 11 March.

Siddaramaiah made the statement after several ministers in his Cabinet came under fire from Congress MLAs at the meeting.

MLA SN Narayanaswamy reportedly walked out of the meeting following a tiff with MLA TD Rajegowda over allegations of IAS officers ignoring the directives of elected representatives.

On the state budget, Siddaramaiah said it was well prepared and more funds have been allocated to all departments.

“Although the expected assistance from the Centre has not been received, the financial position is good,” he stated.

Siddaramaiah also urged leaders to counter the BJP on the ongoing LPG crisis during the Assembly session.
