FIR against Siddaramaiah over MUDA scam

Karnataka Chief  Minister Siddaramaiah took to X, to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the comments made by RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale.

“The statement demanding the removal of the words ‘Socialist’ and ‘Secular’ from the Preamble of the Constitution is a matter that deserves serious discussion. Since this opinion has come directly from the ‘high command’ of the ruling BJP, I, on behalf of 1.4 billion people of India, urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to share his views with the nation,” the chief minister wrote.

Further defending the Constitution, he wrote: “India has always been understood as a socialist and secular nation. That’s why these words weren’t initially included in the original Preamble of the Constitution. However, as RSS and Jan Sangh began attacking the core democratic values of secularism and socialism, Prime Minister Indira Gandhi felt the need to insert these words through the 42nd Amendment—something the entire nation accepts today.”

“RSS opposing the Constitution is not a new development. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its parent organization RSS have been opposing the Constitution since the day it was framed. History is witness to this. Just four days after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar presented the Constitution to the nation, Organiser, the mouthpiece of the RSS, published an editorial criticizing it,” he added.

What did RSS say?

The Organiser editorial said: “Ambedkar’s Constitution lacks any sense of Indianness or ancient Indian values. That is the worst aspect of this Constitution.”

M.S. Golwalkar remarked: “The Indian Constitution is nothing but a borrowed compilation of various foreign constitutions. There is no Indianness in it.”

V.D. Savarkar stated: “Manusmriti is the true Hindu code of law. That is the sacred scripture of Hindus. The ideals of Manusmriti are missing from the Constitution.”

Further criticising the RSS and BJP, Siddaramaiah questioned, “Despite such public comments made by RSS leaders about our Constitution, the BJP has never officially rejected or condemned these views. Instead, whenever the BJP comes to power at the Centre, RSS leaders on one hand and BJP’s lower-rung leaders on the other begin testing the waters by making calls to amend the Constitution—giving ‘test doses’ to gauge the public’s reaction. The vigilant citizens of this country have understood this ‘con game’ played by the BJP.”

“When some BJP leaders claimed they would change the Constitution if their party won 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, the people of India gave them a fitting reply. I believe that if some of our secular parties had not compromised for power, the BJP would have been sitting in the opposition today. It is unfortunate that the BJP continues its devious attempts even after this. If they do not wake up and continue with these sinister efforts, the democracy-loving people of India will surely teach the BJP a lesson it won’t forget.”
