Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday, 17 December, said his government will not be a mute spectator to corruption and will initiate action against the corrupt.
Siddaramaiah also termed the RSS and its allied organisations “factories of lies”.
He said investigations are underway in “40 percent commission” cases against the previous government and steps will be taken against those found guilty.
“If any cases of corruption are found in the state, the government will not be a mute spectator. An investigation will be conducted and action will be taken against the culprits,” the chief minister said.
When asked about officials of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation demanding bribes from drivers to put them on duty, Siddaramaiah said an investigation against them would be conducted.
To a question on the allegations that the caste census was unscientific, the chief minister said the Backward Classes Commission has not submitted its report, yet some people are already commenting that the report is not scientific.
“Such statements are based on speculation without knowing the contents of the report. Let the report be submitted,” he said.
Responding to a question by reporters on the BJP calling the five guarantees of the Congress government “failures”, Siddaramaiah termed the BJP and the Sangh Parivar a “factory of lies”.
To another query about a Karnataka religious teacher stating that India should become a Hindu nation if it has to survive, the chief minister said that this is the slogan of the BJP.
“The Jan Sangh wanted India to become a Hindu nation when it was started in 1950 but ours is a diverse country where not only Hindus, but Christians, Muslims, Jains and Buddhists also live. Our country is a plural country. It is not possible to make a nation only for Hindus,” he said.
