Police raid alleged rave party in Bengaluru, detain 31; drugs recovered

Synopsis: The Bengaluru Police raided an alleged rave party on the outskirts of Bengaluru and detained around 31 people, including 24 men and seven women. Drugs were also seized from the location.

The Bengaluru Police on Monday, 27 May, raided an alleged rave party on the outskirts of Bengaluru and detained around 31 people, said sources. The North East division police raided the farmhouse in Kannamangala near Devanahalli at around 5 am on Monday and detained 24 men and seven women.

According to PTI, a Chinese national was among the detained.

According to a police official involved in the raid, residents near the farmhouse tipped them off about the party. The property belongs to one Syed Aseed, who has yet to be traced.

Meanwhile, the police have taken the farmhouse’s caretaker into custody.

Drugs seized

Most of these people detained at the rave party are said to be IT professionals. The police said they have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.

Bengaluru North East Division Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sajeeth  VJ confirmed to South First the detention of people involved in the rave party.

“The people who have been detained from the rave party have been subjected to medical examination. Their blood and urine samples are sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis. The reports are likely to be out on Monday. We will be able to ascertain if everybody consumed drugs only after we obtain the test results.”

“We have recovered hashish, hybrid cannabis, opium, charas, cannabis and cocaine from the rave party. The party was also attended by peddlers and suppliers,” the DCP said.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the party was organised on the pretext of a birthday. Police said a WhatsApp group was created and messages regarding the party were shared on it.

The police are conducting further inquiries to identify the organisers and suppliers.
