Bharath Bhushan's mortal remains kept at his home in Bengaluru.
Synopsis: The mortal remains of Bharath Bhushan, killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir, were brought to his residence in Mathikere in Bengaluru. The body will be cremated in Hebbal crematorium at 3 pm on Thursday.
The mortal remains of Bharath Bhushan (41), killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir, were brought to his residence in Mathikere in Bengaluru at 5.45 am on Thursday, 24 April.
It was an unfortunate day for the parents of Bhushan, whose body was brought in an Ambulance directly from Kempegowda International Airport.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited his home and announced financial aid of ₹10 lakh for the family of Bhushan.
Union Minister of State V Somanna met the parents and brother of Bhushan and expressed his condolences. BJP MLC CT Ravi and MLA Munirathna also visited Bhshan’s residence to pay their respects.
His 60-year-old mother was inconsolable. According to the relatives of Bhushan, she was not informed of his death as she suffers from serious health issues. She was recently discharged from the hospital after being admitted for a week.
Bhushan’s father, Chennaveerappa, was sitting close to the body kept for public view. His wife, Sujata, was seen speaking to relatives. She said, “We should not have gone to Kashmir.”
A neighbour told South First, “Bhushan was holding his son. The terrorists asked for his name. When he told them his name was Bhushan, they asked him to hand over his son to his wife. Then they shot him.”
His three-year-old son, Havish, was with the relatives inside the house. Bhushan’s elder brother, Preetham, had also accompanied him to Kashmir. He was devastated after his brother was brutally killed. He said, “They shot two bullets and he was gone. I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
The body will be cremated in Hebbal crematorium at 3 pm on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of Manjunath Rao, another Karnataka native who lost his life in the attack, were sent from Kempegowda International Airport to his native Shivamogga.
