Noah had to cancel both his shows in Bengaluru — his second venue in India — late in September due to "technical reasons".
As US comedian and TV Show host Trevor Noah bid goodbye to India, winding up his “Off The Record” tour in the country, he promised Bengaluru the “best show ever” when he returned.
Noah had to cancel both his shows in Bengaluru — his second venue in India — late last month due to “technical reasons”.
He joked about the situation during his shows in Mumbai, talking about caged dogs and hot-air-spewing air-conditioners.
Noah’s “Off The Record” tour was spread across seven shows — three in Delhi, and two each in Bengaluru and Mumbai.
After a lifetime of loving India’s culture, I’m so excited to finally have the privilege of bringing my current stand-up comedy tour to one of the most exciting countries in the world! Delhi, Bengaluru, & Mumbai, I'll see you Sept 22nd thru Oct 1st! Tickets are now on sale and… pic.twitter.com/XV8lbHeMAl

The Delhi leg of the show appeared to have gone off without a hitch. However, problems started in Bengaluru, where — for starters — Noah apparently did not reach the venue on time.
Then, by the time he did, other problems had cropped up. For one, the sound system did not seem to be working, with a section of the audience becoming vociferous about not being able to hear the jokes of the comedian who opened for Noah.
In the end, when Noah announced on stage that both his shows in Bengaluru stood cancelled, he blamed “technical issues”.
He added in a post on X (formerly Twitter): “We tried everything but because the audience can’t hear the comedians on stage there’s literally no way to do a show.”
A few days later, he regaled Mumbai with jokes about the Bengaluru venue, where he said the backstage access was through an alley full of dogs.
He said some of the dogs were in cages, and barking. However, he added, he was more afraid of the ones roaming outside. “I have never prepared for a show where the backstage area is dogs in cages,” he said.
Then, he was led into something about which he said to laughter that soon turned nervous: “I guess it was a building. Some of the structure, I guess, fulfilled the rules of what we call a building. Technically.”
What’s worse is he called the room a “semi-permanent tent” with “giant air-conditioning units” on the side, but “they were blowing” hot air.
On Wednesday, 4 October, Noah took to X to express his gratitude for the experiences he had in India and post images of the activities in which he participated.
He said: “What an experience it was coming and performing in your country for the first time. Thank you for sharing your rich history, your delicious cuisine and your fantastic arguments with me.”
Noah added: “Thank you to everyone who came out to the shows in Delhi and Mumbai because you made it truly unforgettable.”
And then he made a promise to the city that is otherwise known as the Silicon Valley of India: “Bangalore, our story isn’t done, I’ll be back and next time we’ll make sure it’s the best show ever.”
