Eminent scientist and former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K Kasturirangan (83), suffered a heart attack in Sri Lanka on Sunday, 9 July, and was being airlifted to Bengaluru’s Narayana Health, formerly Narayana Hrudayalaya, on Monday for treatment.
Sources from Narayana Health confirmed that Kasturirangan would be airlifted to Narayana Hrudayalaya on Monday evening.

According to sources, his condition was stable. They added that eminent cardiologist Dr Devi Shetty, chairman of the hospital, was monitoring Kasturirangan’s health.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar took to Twitter on Sunday evening and informed the public about the heart attack.
He expressed concern and also said that the Karnataka government was closely monitoring his health and treatment.
He wished the scientist a speedy recovery.

Eminet scientist Dr K Kasturirangan suffers heart attack.
Kasturirangan’s contributions to science and academia over the years have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan awards — three of the top four civilian awards in India.
The former chancellor of both the Central University of Rajasthan and NIIT University, Kasturirangan played an instrumental role in shaping the educational landscape of India.
Additionally, he served as the former chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and chaired the Karnataka Knowledge Commission, where he worked tirelessly to promote knowledge and innovation.
Kasturirangan also served as a member of the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Parliament, from 2003 to 2009.
He held a significant position as a member of the now-defunct Planning Commission of India, a body responsible for guiding the country’s economic and social policies.
He has also served as the director of the esteemed National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bengaluru.
Currently, Kasturirangan is the chairman of the New Education Policy Draft Committee, a crucial role that puts him at the forefront of shaping the future of India’s educational system.
