The Karnataka government has appointed new chairpersons for its boards and corporations. The much-awaited list was finally released on Friday, 26 January, Republic Day.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) issued an order allotting the chairmanships of boards and corporations to around 34 MLAs in Karnataka.

However, the list of the party workers and their appointment postings has not been disclosed yet.

According to the order, the chairpersons for the boards and corporations are appointed for a term of two years and those MLAs would be given cabinet-rank status.

Sources from the Congress told South First that there was indeed disgruntlement among a section of MLAs who did not make it into the Cabinet and harboured ambitions of being appointed to head key boards and corporations.

They were also apparently unhappy about the delay in the appointments.

Meanwhile, ministers Dr G Parameshwara and KN Rajanna openly criticised the Congress high command for not consulting the Karnataka Congress leaders before finalising the list of chairpersons and other postings.
