Karnataka Parliament Lok Sabha Security Breach Mysuru MP Pratap Simha

“Manoranjan is a big fan of the prime minister. He has a good opinion about him,” said Devaraju Gowda, father of Manoranjan Gowda. The distraught father went to the extent of saying, “Hang my son…” if he has committed any serious crime.

Manoranjan, a resident of Vijayanagara in Mysuru, was one of the intruders, who not only breached security in the Lok Sabha but also released coloured smoke from a canister while the Parliament Winter Session was underway in Delhi on Wednesday, 13 December.

Who is Manoranjan?

Manoranjan and his family originally hail from Mallapur village near Arkalgud taluka in Hassan district.

He did his schooling and intermediate at St Joseph’s Central School and Marimallappa PU College, respectively. He pursued engineering in Computer Science at the Bengaluru Institute of Technology.

After graduating, he was involved in agricultural activities on his father’s farm in Mysuru.

Meanwhile, the local police visited Manoranjan’s house in Mysuru and collected details about him from his family members.

He’s a big fan of the Prime Minister: Devaraju

While condemning the security breach in the Lok Sabha, Devaraju said that his son is a “big fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi” and has a good opinion about him as well.

On whether he had special love towards the prime minister, Devaraju Gowda said, “Who is the prime minister? He is our god. He is a fan of the Prime Minister. He has a good opinion about the prime minister and used to say that it is our luck (to have him as the prime minister).”

When asked how his son could’ve got the pass to the Parliament, Devaraju said, “I don’t have any idea how he managed to get the pass. We are voters of MP Pratap Simha. I have close relations with him.”

“While leaving the house he said that he was going to Bengaluru. He used to go to Delhi now and then,” he added.

“I requested him many times to stop getting involved in politics and focus on agricultural activities. I used to tell him that my father and grandfather had gone bankrupt after they got involved in politics,” he said.

Hang my son if he has done wrong: Devaraju

“Hang my son if he has done wrong,” a disappointed Devaraju said on Wednesday.

He angrily reiterated to reporters in Mysuru, “Let him be hanged. If he has done wrong to society, he is not my son at all.”

“Whoever it may be — either it’s you or me — one should do good work. If he has done wrong, then let him be hanged,” he reacted sharply.

He further said, “We come from a humble background. None of my family members have been involved in any kind of illegal activities.”

“With the help of JD(S) supremo and former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, my son got an engineering seat at Bengaluru Institute of Technology. I had set up a poultry and cattle farm for him on an acre of my farmland. He used to look after it,” Devaraju recollected.

“He frequently travels to Bengaluru and sometimes to Delhi. He used to read philosopher Swami Vivekananda’s books. He had around 10,000 to 15,000 books at home. I used to ask him to stop reading books but he never listened to me,” he added.

He said he wanted to do good for society: Devaraju

Devaraju said, “I used to plead with him to get married as he is 34 years old. He would say that he still has ample time. He had thoughts of doing good for society. He used to say that he wanted to do good things for society but never spoke about what he did. He did not identify himself with any political party.”

“He wanted to do something good for the farmers and the oppressed. I used to convince him that it was impossible. I told him to work on a project that I have set up. But he used to say that he does not want to bring a bad name to the family,” he lamented.

“He told me several times that he does only good work and is not involved in any illegal activities. We know only this much and we are not aware of anything else. I used to look after his expenses. He did not have any bad intentions or habits,” said Devaraju, condemning the security lapse in the Parliament.

He said that he had not tried to contact his son as his phone remained switched off since morning.
