In a twist to the ongoing MUDA scam involving Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a complaint was been lodged with the ADGP (Intelligence and Enforcement Directorate), seeking a probe into the financial backgrounds of three petitioners in the case.
Karnataka High Court Advocate Amruthesh NP lodged the complaint seeking an investigation into the financial backgrounds of petitioners TJ Abraham, Snehamayi Krishna, and Pradeepkumar SP under the Provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002.
These three petitioners had approached the governor and Special Court for Elected Representatives for a probe into the alleged MUDA scam involving Siddaramaiah and his family members recently.
It has been alleged that the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) allotted alternative sites to influential persons, including Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi, in upmarket areas instead of the properties that they had handed over to the authority.
In June this year, even as news about the MUDA scam trickled in, an RTI activist revealed the involvement of politicians and their relatives, including Parvathi Siddaramaiah. A month later on 18 July, social activist TJ Abraham filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police in Mysuru. On 21 July, he petitioned the governor, seeking sanction for the prosecution of the chief minister.
In August, Snehamayi Krishna moved the Special Court for People’s Representatives, seeking an independent probe. On 17 August, Governor Thawaarchand Gehlot sanctioned the prosecution of Siddaramaiah, which was upheld by the high court.
The complaint against the petitioners was lodged soon after Krishna approached the Enforcement Directorate, seeking a probe into the alleged irregularities and corruption in MUDA’s allotment of alternative sites. She had earlier moved the high court for a CBI probe since the Lokayukta came under the purview of the state government.
Meanwhile, a woman in Nanjagud lodged a complaint against Krishna and a man, Daba Jayakumar, for allegedly abusing and issuing life threats to her and her mother. The police have registered an FIR.
