Minor fire reported at Bengaluru’s Victoria Hospital; patients shifted to adjacent block

The hospital authorities immediately alerted the fire department, which came and put out the fire.

Fire at Victoria Hospital Bengaluru.

A minor fire due to a short circuit in a switchboard was reported in the Seminar room in the burns block of Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru at around 3 am on Tuesday, 1 July.

The hospital authorities immediately alerted the fire department, which came and put out the fire. A total of 26 patients, including 14 males, five females and seven children, were at the block during the incident — among them, five were in the intensive care unit (ICU).

“Given the smoke & as a precautionary measure, we have shifted all the burns patients (26 patients) from this ward to H Block of Victoria Hospital,” said Dr Ramesh Krishna K, Dean & Director of BMCRI.

Dr Ramesh Krishna, Medical Superintendent Dr Deepak, HOD Dr Yogeshwarappa, and Plastic Surgery Department Professor Dr Smitha are monitoring the patients.

“All the patients, patient attenders, doctors and hospital staff are safe and the situation is under control,” said Dr Ramesh Krishna.
