Lokayukta officials raid 55 locations in Karnataka targeting 12 officials

The early morning operation was conducted by around 100 Lokayukta officials. It is not yet known if the officials seized any disproportionate assets.

The Lokayukta sleuths on Friday, 19 July, conducted statewide raids in 55 locations including Bengaluru, Tumkur, Kalaburagi, Chikkaballapur, Shivamogga, and Yadagiri. The raids mainly targeted 12 officials including two municipal commissioners.

Apart from the Bengaluru Rural Municipal Administration Service Commissioner Narasimha Murthy K, and Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner Anand CL, the other ten officials include:

  • Muddukumar, Additional Director, Industry and Commerce Department, Tumkur
  • Balwant, Project Director, Yadagiri District Panchayat, Yadgiri
  • Siddappa, Senior Veterinary Officer, Doddaballapur, Bengaluru Rural
  • BV Raja, FDA, KIADB, Bengaluru city
  • Ramesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department, Bengaluru city
  • Akhtar Ali, Deputy Controller, Bengaluru city
  • C Nagesh, President, Anthargange Gram Panchayat, Bhadravathi, Shivamogga
  • Prakash, Deputy Director, Horticulture Department, Bengaluru city
  • Chetan Kumar, Labour Officer, Mandya Division, Bengaluru city
  • Manjunath TR, FDA, North Sub-Division Officer, Bengaluru city

Past raids

A week back, on 11 July, the Lokayukta sleuths raided at 56 places across the state and found that 11 government officers and engineers had amassed assets worth ₹45.14 crore that are disproportionate to their known sources of income.

According to the Lokayukta office, Shekhar Gouda Kuradgi was found to be in possession of the highest amount of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income —worth ₹7.88 crore —among those raided on 11 July.
