A dinner meeting between Union Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy and Karnataka’s Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi has sparked curiosity in the state.

According to reports, Kumaraswamy hosted Jarkiholi at his Delhi residence on Tuesday, 25 March. JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda was also present.

The meeting gained significance as Karnataka politics has been going through turbulent times following Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna’s allegation in the Assembly that a gang had tried to honey-trap him and 48 others.

“The high command told me that KN Rajanna should have brought up the honey-trap issue at a Congress party meeting or directly with the chief minister than making a statement in the Assembly,” Jarkiholi told a news conference on Tuesday.

Incidentally, Rajanna’s allegation came even as the Congress in Karnataka has been witnessing a power struggle. Jarkiholi was among the Congress leaders aspiring to become the chief minister after Siddaramaiah.

Besides Jarkiholi, Home Minister G Parameshwara, and MB Patil, too, besides Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, have been nursing the desire to succeed Siddaramaiah.

In January 2025, Jarkiholi said that he would make a bid to the chief minister’s post after the 2028 Assembly elections.

The details of Kumaraswamy-Jarkiholi is not known. The state minister did not respond to South First‘s calls.
