The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the Karnataka Fire (Amendment) Bill, 2025, allowing a 1 percent fire cess on newly built multi-storey buildings, including commercial complexes, hospitals, schools, industrial units, and apartments. The cess, calculated on property tax, aims to improve urban fire safety infrastructure. Builders or property owners must pay the cess.

Additionally, the Cabinet will convert the Gig Workers Ordinance, 2025 into a Bill to secure welfare for over 2.3 lakh platform-based delivery workers.

A Payment and Welfare Fee Verification System (PWFVS) will track welfare contributions, with aggregators required to remit 1–5 percent of each payout to a state-run welfare fund quarterly.
