Rescue team pull out bodies of two minor girls holding to each other from landslide rubble in Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada.

They were just two sisters playing in the rain, and the last anyone saw of them was Shruti (11) and Jnanashree (6) going into their house before a hill collapsed on it and buried them alive.

When rescue workers retrieved their bodies from the rubble of the house in the Subramanya village of the Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday, 2 August, they found that the sisters’ last act was to hold on to each other tightly.

“The sisters were holding each other firmly. It seemed they were protecting each other,” a senior police officer from Dakshina Kannada said.

A senior officer of the Dakshina Kannada Police told reporters that residents of Subramanya heard a long sound on Monday evening.

The two sisters playing on the balcony went inside the house but unfortunately, a hill collapsed on their house trapping them.

The officer added that rescue workers reached the place late due to flooding streams and damaged roads.
