Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries, MB Patil, launched the first edition of Uthpadana Manthana, a post-Invest Karnataka 2025 initiative aimed at attracting ₹7.5 lakh crore in investments and creating 20 lakh jobs over five years.
The day-long conclave brought together 80 senior executives from 60 companies across sectors like aerospace, semiconductors, EVs, capital goods, and textiles.
Industry leaders presented recommendations on skill development, infrastructure, export facilitation, and ease of doing business.
Key proposals included establishing an Advanced Manufacturing Institute, improving port connectivity, and creating integrated industrial townships. The government plans to form sector-specific task forces to implement these suggestions, while also focusing on green hydrogen, med-tech, precision engineering, and space tech.
Senior officials including Dr. S. Selvakumar (Principal Secretary, Commerce & Industries), Smt. Gunjan Krishna (Commissioner, Industries), and Dr. Mahesh (CEO, KIADB) attended the event.
Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), the e-mobility arm of Greaves Cotton Limited, has appointed Vikas Singh as its new Managing Director, effective 2nd June 2025. Vikas, an alumnus of FMS, University of Delhi, brings extensive leadership experience across consumer-facing industries and regulated markets.
His appointment marks a significant step in GEML’s journey as it aims to accelerate growth and strengthen its position in India’s expanding EV sector. Under his leadership, the existing management team will report directly to him.
GEML reiterated its commitment to democratising smart and sustainable mobility solutions for all Indians, with Vikas’ appointment aligned to its long-term strategic vision.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the doubling of the Ballari–Chikjajur railway line, covering 185 km across Ballari and Chitradurga districts in Karnataka and Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh.
This project, part of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aims to enhance mobility, operational efficiency, and service reliability in the region.
The multi-tracking project will improve freight movement of key commodities such as iron ore, steel, cement, fertilizers, and agricultural produce. Additionally, it will help reduce logistics costs, oil imports, and CO2 emissions, supporting India’s climate goals and contributing to the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision of comprehensive regional development.
Prof. Umesh V. Waghmare has assumed charge as the new President of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR).
The formal handover ceremony took place in the presence of faculty and staff, with outgoing President Prof. G.U. Kulkarni transferring responsibilities. Prof. Waghmare, who joined JNCASR in 2000, has held several key academic roles, including Dean of Faculty Affairs.
The Centre expressed gratitude to Prof. Kulkarni for his visionary leadership and significant contributions.
