Five persons died in a collision between a car and a lorry near Ingalahalli Cross, near Hubballi in Karnataka, on 6 May morning.
Officers from the Hubballi Rural Police Station rushed to the spot on receiving information about the incident. They are trying to identify the victims.
Police sent the bodies to Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute (KMCRI) hospital in Hubballi.
BJP MLA B Y Vijayendra hailed the Centre’s decision to conduct a caste-based population census, calling it vital for democracy.
He also said, “CM Siddaramaiah government had promised to prepare a socio-economic and educational survey report but now they have given the colour of caste census to the same report. They did not accept the Kantharaju report initially. Now they have not yet implemented the report submitted by Jayaprakash Hegde also.”
He accused Siddaramaiah and the Congress government of failing to provide social justice to these backward communities by delaying to implement the report. He said, “They never had intention to provide social justice to the backward communities in Karnataka by implementing it. That’s why they have delayed it. Even former CM of Karnataka, Veerappa Moily, has opposed the Kantharaj survey report and termed it as unscientific with outdated data also.”
