RCB moves Karnataka High Court to expunge CAT remarks linking team to Chinnaswamy stadium stampede(Sriharikanth)
Synopsis: In response to the RCB celebration stampede that killed 11, the Karnataka Cabinet has discussed the Crowd Control Bill, 2025. Akshay Shivaram, a 29-year-old HR executive, died after being in a coma for days. He suffered severe head injuries when a tree branch fell on him while riding his scooter near Hanumanthnagar on 15 June.
In response to the stampede during RCB’s victory celebrations that left 11 dead, the Karnataka government has proposed the Karnataka Crowd Control Bill, 2025.
The draft bill, discussed in the latest cabinet meeting, seeks to regulate large public gatherings to prevent crowd-related disasters. It proposes strict penalties—up to three years in prison and a ₹5 lakh fine—for violations.
However, the bill will exempt traditional and religious events such as chariot processions, fairs, Urs, and Teppotsava festivals. It is expected to receive cabinet approval in the next meeting.
Akshay Shivaram, a 29-year-old HR executive, succumbed to head injuries on Thursday, days after a tree branch fell on him while he was riding a scooter near Brahma Chaitanya Temple in Hanumanthnagar on 15 June.
He had been in a coma since the incident and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Jayanagar.
क ृत्रिम, India’s first AI unicorn, has acquired BharatSah’AI’yak, an AI platform developed by Samagra that powers government services in education, agriculture, and governance. The move strengthens क ृत्रिम’s mission to democratise AI through its advanced Large Language Models, agentic AI platform Kruti, and cloud infrastructure.
The acquisition includes onboarding Samagra’s AI team to ensure seamless integration. BharatSah’AI’yak, known for its vernacular RAG-based AI bots like KumbhSah’AI’yak and Odisha’s AMA Krushi chatbot, will now scale nationwide. This integration enhances inclusive, cost-effective, and last-mile AI access, furthering Kruti’s vision of proactive, task-executing AI.
In a landmark move, IN-SPACe has announced the transfer of ISRO’s Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) technology to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), making it the winning bidder among three shortlisted entities. This marks one of the most significant technology transfers from ISRO to an Indian company, enabling HAL to independently build, own, and commercialize SSLV launches. The transfer includes extensive handholding and training by ISRO, with two SSLV launches projected within the next two years.
The rigorous evaluation process included consortia led by Alpha Design Technologies and Bharat Dynamics Ltd., but HAL emerged as the top bidder. This milestone aligns with India’s vision of a $44 billion space economy by 2033 and aims to boost private sector participation in space tech.
Eight outstanding student innovators from Karnataka, part of the national Junicorn100K initiative, met the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka at his official residence in Bengaluru on 20 June 2025.
These eight Junicorns were among 40 student innovators selected from over 1,000 applicants across rural India by the International Startup Foundation (ISF). While the larger team included students from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Odisha, this special audience was arranged for the Karnataka Junicorns who made their mark at the ISF Global Junicorn & AI Summit 2025, held at Texas State University, USA.
The students were joined by J A Chowdary, Founder of ISF and noted architect of India’s tech ecosystem, and Dr. Siva Mahesh Tangutooru, Co-Founder of ISF and national coordinator of the Junicorn100K mission.
