Karnataka Lokayukta police on Wednesday arrested a public prosecutor for allegedly accepting a paltry bribe of ₹1,100, officials said.
The arrested accused, KS Latha, is a Public Prosecutor at the XLV Additional City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru (CCH-46), reported the Deccan Herald.
According to officials, the complainant had reported to them that Latha had demanded the bribe to file objections in a case.
Lokayukta officials set a trap and apprehended the prosecutor in the act while she accepted the bribe of ₹1,100. She was promptly arrested.
The Lokayukta police have charged her under Section 7A (taking undue advantage to influence a public servant by corrupt or illegal means or by exercise of personal influence) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is on.
