To combat the drug menace in Karnataka, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara launched the Raksha QR code on Thursday, 26 June, enabling citizens to anonymously report drug trafficking and abuse.
The initiative was part of the 66th International Day Against Drug Abuse event held at Kanteerava Stadium.
He also gave virtual approval to destroy 143.77 kg of drugs worth ₹45 crore seized by Bengaluru Police. Thousands, including students, took a pledge against drug use.
Parameshwara said over 6.5 lakh students have been sensitised, over 200 foreign nationals involved in the drug trade deported, and monthly police visits to colleges will be mandated alongside anti-drug committees.
