Developed with NIC’s Jeevan Pramaan platform, the system enables online submission, eliminating physical visits. Unveiled by Director (Finance) KN Gangadhar, the initiative aims to ease the process and includes awareness campaigns to educate pensioners

The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has rolled out a new digital solution to simplify the life certificate verification process for pensioners.

The software, developed in-house by KPTCL’s IT Department in collaboration with NIC’s Jeevan Pramaan platform, was launched at the KPTCL Corporate Office by Director (Finance), KN Gangadhar.

Designed to eliminate the need for pensioners to physically visit offices, the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) authentication software allows online submission and verification of life certificates—a requirement for continued pension disbursement.

“This initiative will make the verification process more convenient for our pensioners,” said Gangadhar, adding that awareness drives will be conducted across departments to familiarise pensioners with the new system.

Kumaraswamy BP, President of the KEB Pensioners’ Association, hailed the development. “There are more than 40,000 pensioners under KPTCL and ESCOMs. This software will be a major relief, especially for senior citizens,” he noted.

Efficient pension processing

The system works by integrating pensioners’ submissions with the Jeevan Pramaan portal, which then transmits verified data to KPTCL’s Pension Processing Management System (PPMS) and onward to the Pension and Gratuity Trust and power supply companies.

Developed under the leadership of Anil Kumar D’Souza, Superintendent of the IT Department, the software is designed to be secure and user-friendly.

D’Souza and his team were commended for their work during the launch.

The event saw attendance from top officials, including Vijay BP (Director of Administration & HR), SV Manjunath (Director of Planning), Giridhar Kulkarni (Director of Operations), and representatives from employee and engineers’ associations.
