A day after a breakfast meeting between Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, the latter, on Sunday, 30 November, dismissed rumours about any difference of opinion between them.

“There is no difference (of opinion) between me and the Chief Minister. As the party president, I know my limits. Nowhere have I made any comments or had any difference of opinion with the CM. We are all working together,” he told reporters.

He further said that their aim is the 2028 and 2029 elections and that they would chalk out a strategy for the same.

On Saturday, Shivakumar visited Siddaramaiah’s house for a breakfast meeting. At the meeting held at Siddaramaiah’s official residence, Kaveri, the chief minister’s legal advisor and MLA AS Ponnanna was also present.

‘We are united’

Siddaramaiah, speaking to the media, after the breakfast meet with Shivakumar, said, “Myself and the KPCC president and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar are united, and there are no differences.”

Asked if the alleged 2.5-year power-sharing agreement is there, the chief minister said, “Whatever the decision high command makes, both of us will abide by it.”

Reiterating that there are no differences between them, Siddaramaiah said they have worked out a strategy to tackle the BJP in the upcoming Assembly session.

Meanwhile, the Opposition BJP is planning to move a no-confidence motion against the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the upcoming winter session of the state Assembly in Belagavi.

While announcing the plan in Udupi on 27 November, BJP state general secretary and former minister V Sunil Kumar said his party would first discuss the matter with its partners in the National Democratic Alliance.

Kumar, who represents Karkala in the Assembly, however, added that the BJP would not stake a claim to form the government even if the Congress ran into trouble. The Congress has a comfortable majority in the 224-member Assembly.
