Peeved at being denied a ticket for the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP’s incumbent MP from Karnataka’s Koppal seat Sanganna Karadi joined Congress on Wednesday, 17 April.

He resigned from the BJP on Tuesday, 16 April.

Sources said Karadi tendered his resignation to BJP Karnataka unit president BY Vijayendra.

The two-time MP from Koppal has been upset with the BJP leadership for not giving him a ticket to contest the coming Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP has fielded Dr Basavaraj Kyavator from the seat. Karadi had been sulking since the party announced Kyavator’s candidature from Koppal.

Sanganna was welcomed into the party fold by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who is also the State Congress chief.

Sources said that Karadi has also sent a letter resigning from the Lok Sabha to Speaker Om Birla by mail.
