Synopsis: PSI Savitha B. of the Mandya Women’s Police Station, who was deployed for special security duty at the temple during Bheema Amavasya, alleged in her complaint that Aishwarya abused and assaulted her, obstructed her from performing duty and threatened her after being made to wait for darshan.
The daughter of Tumakuru Rural BJP MLA B. Suresh Gowda has been booked for allegedly assaulting a woman police sub-inspector during a dispute over darshan at the Arathi Ukkada temple in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district on 12 August.
PSI Savitha B. of the Mandya Women’s Police Station, who was deployed for special security duty at the temple during Bheema Amavasya, alleged in her complaint that Aishwarya abused and assaulted her, obstructed her from performing duty and threatened her after being made to wait for darshan.
The incident allegedly took place around 8.15 pm inside the temple premises. Based on Savitha’s complaint, Kyathanahalli police registered an FIR against Aishwarya under Sections 132, 115(2), 352 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Mandya police have also confirmed that Aishwarya has filed a counter-complaint against the PSI, alleging that Savitha abused her during the argument.
MLA B. Suresh Gowda has apologised over his daughter’s alleged conduct. He said Aishwarya had gone to the temple with her children and had sought permission for darshan inside the sanctum.
