Buffaloes getting ready for the Kambala race
The iconic Mysuru Dasara festival may soon include Kambala, the traditional buffalo race from coastal Karnataka. The proposal was discussed during a preparatory meeting chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Vidhana Soudha.
Inspired by the success of a recent Kambala event in Bengaluru, officials suggested hosting a similar race near Mysuru to enhance cultural representation and public engagement. The move aims to showcase Karnataka’s diverse traditions during the world-famous festival. With strong support voiced during the meeting, a final decision on including Kambala in the Dasara celebrations is expected soon.
