Namma Metro’s Yellow Line has received the crucial Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) report, allowing Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to proceed with the next step — inviting the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) for inspection. The ISA, issued by an Italian state-run agency in collaboration with Siemens India Ltd, had been delayed due to technical issues requiring software updates. With this hurdle cleared, the Yellow Line, part of Phase 2, moves closer to commissioning.

BMRCL officials now state that the CMRS inspection will be initiated soon. Meanwhile, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, urging faster CMRS approvals and highlighting the importance of Transit Oriented Development (TOD).

Surya also advocated for standardised metro train designs to promote efficiency and manufacturing growth. The Yellow Line was initially set for a mid-2023 launch and is now likely to open by August 15.
