Focusing on cybercrime cases and effective management of traffic movement in the city are his top priorities for the city.
“Focusing on cybercrime cases and effective management of traffic in the city would be the top priorities,” IPS officer Dayananada B told reporters soon after he took charge as the police commissioner of Bengaluru on Wednesday, 31 May.
Dayananda also said that people still had trust in the police department and that he would work hard towards retaining that as well as gaining more trust.
“There are many challenges that will be taken up on priority. Traffic management in the city requires coordinative efforts from civic agencies and other stakeholders. The police department will work with everyone to manage traffic in the city in a better way,” he said.

Dayananda also said that there was an overload of cybercrime cases at the Cybercrime, Economic offence, and Narcotics (CEN) police stations.
Training would have to be imparted to all police personnel — including those attached to the regular law and order police stations in the city — on cybercrime cases so that regular police stations could share the burden of CEN police stations, he said.
The Police Department was also planning to commission more Cybercrime police stations, he added.
Social media was also being misused to a large extent, and training for all police personnel on monitoring social media was also on the cards, said the top cop.
Dayananda also said that the backbone of policing was intelligence, and his focus would be to strengthen the intelligence network to contain anti-social and subversive activities.
Dayananda called it predicted policing for the purpose of prevention or deterrence of any criminal activities as and while they are being planned or plotted.
He took charge as the Bengaluru city police commissioner from the outgoing commissioner CH Pratap Reddy in a ceremonial change of guard on Wednesday morning.
The Change-of-Guard ceremony was supposed to happen on Tuesday evening, but was postponed to Wednesday due to the incessant rains in the city, sources from the City Police Commissioner’s office told South First.
CH Pratap Reddy had taken charge as the Bengaluru top cop on 16 May, 2022.
