Karnataka Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Tourism HK Patil.
The Karnataka government has appointed Law Minister H.K. Patil as the new border in-charge minister to oversee inter-state boundary and river disputes. Patil had earlier held the same role during Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s first term.
According to Government Order No.: CSU 03 PBC 2024, issued on June 30, 2025, the appointment aims to ensure continuous legal and political oversight of Karnataka’s sensitive border and river issues. The government emphasized the need for a dedicated minister to monitor such disputes closely, assess them from all angles, and facilitate timely intervention and resolution.
Patil will assume the role with immediate effect and continue until further notice.
