Hassan achieves milestone: Over 10,000 land title issues resolved under ‘Nanna Bhoomi’ drive
In a major boost to land rights and rural governance, over 10,000 long-pending Darkast Durasthi (land title regularisation) cases have been resolved in Hassan district in Karnataka, under the state government’s Nanna Bhoomi initiative.
The drive, aimed at delivering rightful land titles to farmers whose granted government lands were left unsurveyed and unrecorded for decades, marks the resolution of a three-decade-old issue affecting thousands of families. Officials say many of these grants date back 20 to 60 years, but due to lack of proper surveys, beneficiaries were unable to sell or even divide the land among family members.
What makes the initiative stand out is that the process was proactive—without even requiring an application from the farmers. Officials personally visited fields and conducted surveys, delivering long-awaited ownership rights. Each resolved case often involved multiple generations of beneficiaries.
