YouTuber and political commentator Dhruv Rathee will be among the participants at a protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on October 8.
The announcement was made by actor Prakash Raj, who, in a video posted on X, described Rathee as a “special guest” at the protest.
“Hi everyone. In the morning video, I had promised you that we will be announcing a very special guest. A voice with a spine, who will be joining us at Freedom Park, Bengaluru. That’s none other than Dhruv Rathee. Dhruv Rathee, first time in Bengaluru! In support of scrap SIR!” the actor said.

Rathee also announced on X that he will be part of the protest in Bengaluru. The YouTuber shared a video in which CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke is seen introducing him as a “surprise” while urging people to gather in large numbers for the protest.
“Gyanesh, it’s done bro. Jai Hind,” Rathee wrote in the post.
According to Prakash Raj, among other prominent figures attending the protest are Left leaders Neha Bora and Aishe Ghosh.
“Please come in large numbers! Stand with all the cockroaches who will be there. Aishe Ghosh will be there. Neha Bora will be there. All young organisations will be there. Civil Society will be there. And the victims of SIR from across the districts of Karnataka will be there. Let’s come together to raise our voice in solidarity against this draconian SIR!” the actor said.
The CJP-led protest gathering is expected to begin at 10:30 am on October 8.
According to CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka, they will also attend “the People’s tribunal on SIR, interacting with Kannadigas who have been wrongfully removed from the voters list.”
“This would be followed by a “Chappal protest” in solidarity with our women. Look forward to seeing you all in large numbers!” Ranka said.
The CJP protest comes a day after fierce protests by the Opposition MPs, led by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in Delhi.
The MPs, who had reached Jantar Mantar for a march demanding the CEC’s resignation, were stopped by the Delhi Police just metres away from the designated protest site.
Rahul Gandhi, flanked by party workers, was seen resisting attempts by the police to remove him from the site. Senior police officials were seen trying to convince Gandhi to not proceed with the rally.
However, Gandhi, along with other Opposition MPs, including Priyanka Gandhi, was forcibly removed from the site by police personnel despite resistance. Gandhi was seen being lifted by the police and pushed into a tempo traveller. The leaders were later let go by the police.
The protests were announced as part of separate campaigns by the Opposition and the CJP against CEC Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, which reportedly resulted in the deletion of 13 crore names from the electoral rolls.
