The Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE) has launched an inquiry into allegations that Dalit (SC/ST) officials in Karnataka are being denied promotions across multiple departments. The action follows a letter from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging immediate intervention.
The issue gained prominence during the AICC OBC Advisory Council meeting in Bengaluru. The Karnataka SC/ST Employees’ Association claimed that 80 employees were denied promotion to principal posts in the School Education Department, with similar concerns in other departments. DCRE SP K Dharani Devi has ordered a detailed probe into the matter.
