Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday, 27 August, highlighted the economic, social welfare, and sustainable development goals of the state in a meeting with NITI Aayog vice chairperson Suman Bery in Bengaluru.
Addressing the meeting, Siddaramaiah stated that Karnataka has been actively working towards a vision to foster inclusive growth, enhance governance, and address the unique challenges that the region faces.
Siddaramiah emphasising the state government’s work noted, “Although our work aligns with the objectives outlined by NITI Aayog and the Government of India, we believe we are going several steps ahead in promoting the inclusion of the bottom 60 percent of the population in terms of income in our development agenda.”
The chief minister further highlighted the work his government has done in various sectors.

In the technology sector, the chief minister said that the government is working towards sustainable development by focusing on the state’s unique resources. “From bolstering infrastructure to promoting entrepreneurship, we are working towards creating an ecosystem that fosters innovation and attracts investment,” the press release read.
Apart from being a hub in research, innovation, and high technology in the semiconductor, space, and aerospace sectors, the Siddaramaiah government is also focusing on sectors such as agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and technology-led industries.
Further moving to inclusive growth, Siddaramaiah spoke of the DBTs (direct benefit transfers) implemented by the Congress government in the state. ” In line with our vision for equitable growth, we have launched a very ambitious inclusion agenda by providing direct income support to over 12 million families through direct benefit transfer,” the release read.
Listing out the five guarantees of the Karnataka government, the chief minister noted the state spends ₹52,000 crore to achieve the said goal.
Noting that e-governance is the key to achieving developmental goals, the chief minister stated, “By adopting e-governance tools and fostering a culture of responsiveness, we aim to improve service delivery and citizen engagement.”
Siddaramaiah noting that their policies aim to reduce our carbon footprint, claimed, “53 percent of our installed capacity of 32 Giga Wats comes from renewable energy sources.”
Siddaramaiah thanking the NITI Aayog for guidance and support emphasised that Karnataka remains dedicated to contributing to the collective vision of a progressive and prosperous India.
The release further read, “We are eager to continue this collaboration on various initiatives, confident that through shared knowledge, resources, and expertise, we can effectively tackle challenges and seize new growth opportunities. I look forward to our discussions and the productive outcomes that will arise from this meeting.”
