Synopsis: The search was carried out following information about inmates allegedly maintaining contact with people outside the prison and involvement in illegal activities.
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) conducted a surprise inspection at Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison on the night of Tuesday, 11 August.

More than 90 CCB personnel, led by DCP Haribabu and Imam Khasim, carried out the searches until around 8 pm. Officials seized more than 10 mobile phones from different parts of the prison.

A mobile phone was also recovered from the barrack where former MP Prajwal Revanna is lodged. CCB is investigating whether Revanna, convicted in a rape case, was using an Android phone inside the prison.
The raid comes amid concerns over illegal activities and inmates maintaining outside contacts. Parappana Agrahara prison has previously faced scrutiny after phones, SIM cards, chargers, earphones and other prohibited items were recovered from inmates.
Further investigation is underway.
