In his remarks, Yediyurappa also targeted the Congress party, accusing them of engaging in an internal power struggle for the chief minister’s position, rather than prioritising public welfare.

“Their focus is not on the people, but on holding onto power,” he stated.

The former chief minister further announced that the BJP’s protest would continue for several days, with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi set to join demonstrations in Mysuru.

In addition to the protest at Freedom Park, BJP Party President B Y Vijayendra revealed a series of statewide protests starting on 2 April.

The first protest will take place at the Kengal Hanumanthiah statue in Vidhana Soudha, demanding the revocation of suspensions for 18 BJP and JD(S) MLAs.

Following that, all BJP MLAs and MLCs will join the day-and-night protest at Freedom Park.

Vijayendra criticised the government for imposing price hikes on essential commodities, which he said have placed a significant financial burden on the poor.

He also condemned the Congress government’s decision to grant a 4 percent reservation to Muslims in contract works, calling it unconstitutional and discriminatory.

Demonstrations across Karnataka

The BJP’s protests will not be limited to Bengaluru; the party plans to hold demonstrations across Karnataka, including at district, taluk, and mandal levels.

On 5 April, BJP members will take to the streets across the state in protest.

The second phase of the yatra will begin on 13 April, covering Shivamogga and Uttar Kannada districts, with planned pada yatras and public meetings across various regions of Karnataka.

Vijayendra emphasised that the BJP’s protests are aimed at voicing public dissatisfaction and advocating for the removal of burdensome price hikes and policies that hurt the people of Karnataka.
