CM Siddaramaiah announced today that Banu Mushtaq, winner of the Booker Prize for Hridaya Deepa, will inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara festival.
Mushtaq, from a grassroots background, has contributed to the farmers’ and Kannada movements.
Siddaramaiah said it is a matter of pride that a woman from Karnataka has received the Booker Prize and will now open the world-famous Dasara.
Mysuru Dasara festivities will begin on September 22, 2025.
