The Opposition BJP and JD(S) in Karnataka welcomed the high court order dismissing the petition of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granting prosecution sanction against him in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra said the saffron party had been relentlessly fighting against the corrupt Congress government for the past two months.
“We have been fighting against the corrupt Congress government and CM Siddaramaiah. The Congress government itself admitted that a scam of ₹87 crore took place in the ST development corporation. When BJP took up the issue of the MUDA scam where the chief minister’s family is a direct beneficiary and demanded a discussion in the state Assembly, the chief minister very cleverly constituted a single-man inquiry commission. The Governor decided to give prosecution sanction after thorough consultations and deliberations,” he told reporters.
“The high court said that the petition challenged by the CM has been dismissed. The judge has observed that all are equal before the law. At this juncture, I demand CM Siddaramiah to resign…,” he added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the issue was a conspiracy of the BJP and that the Congress would stand by the chief minister.
“The Chief Minister is not involved in any scam or has not done anything wrong. It is a political conspiracy by the BJP. We support him and stand by him. He is doing good work for the country, party and the state,” Shivakumar said.
Meanwhile, the JD(S) welcomed the high court order.
“It is welcome that the Karnataka High Court has allowed the prosecution against the Chief Minister for illegally occupying 14 sites in Muda. The high court order has slapped the machinations that were carried out to cover up the corruption in Muda @siddaramaiah by committing abuse of power, nepotism. The “Mysore Chalo” campaign by NDA alliance parties JDS and BJP against the Muda scam has won,” the party said in a post on X.

“Whitener Ramaiah” with “Black Spot”. Siddaramaiah, who had self-certified that there was no scandal in MUDA and there was no black spot on him, you have no morals left to continue in power even for a moment… Resign from the post of CM, keep the honour…,” the party said in another post.

Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly R Ashoka said the order was a victory of truth and vindication of BJP’s fight against corruption.
“Hon’ble Karnataka High Court’s verdict to uphold Hon’ble Governor’s sanction to prosecute CM @siddaramaiah in MUDA scam is a victory of truth and vindication of our fight against corruption.
