Former Karnataka chief minister and BJP Central Parliamentary Board member BS Yediyurappa, at the party’s Executive Committee meeting in Bengaluru on Saturday, 27 January, appealed to the party leaders that all the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka should be bagged by the saffron party in upcoming Parliamentary elections.

The BJP Executive Committee meeting was organised at the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru, where the state BJP President and Yediyurappa’s son BY Vijayendra along with the Leader of the Opposition R Ashok and senior leader Jagadish Shettar, a former chief minister who had joined the Congress before the Assembly elections but returned to the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections.

“The upcoming Lok Sabha election is a litmus test for all of us. In 2019, 26 seats were won as people voted with conviction for the BJP. This time we should ensure that all 28 constituencies must be won in the State and dedicate the results to the Prime Minister Modi,” Yediyurappa explained.

The Congress government that misguided people and came to power is indulged in strife, he said.

“Due to their infighting, the governance has collapsed in the state. Corruption is rampant and there are no development activities taking place in the state. And amid all this, they (the Congress) are planning to get votes in the Lok Sabha elections by hatching conspiracies,” he added.

“There is a challenge before us to convince the people,” he said.” The people are cursing the government that has been unable to wipe the tears of the farmers during the drought. There is anarchy in the state and it is not possible to sit quietly in this situation. Let’s come together to launch a struggle for the State.”

He also said the rejoining of Jagadish Shettar had given a big boost to the party.

Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra told the gathering that there was no question of sitting at home and resting until the Lok Sabha elections were over.

“We can’t take our opposition lightly. The achievements have to be communicated to the people and hard work has to be put day and night in to ensure victory,” he stated.

“On one hand, the Lok Sabha elections are nearing. On the other hand, we have assembled here following the Pran Prathista of Lord Ram in Ayodhya — awaited for centuries — under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The struggle was continuously made for decades,” said Vijayendra.

“There is a festive environment all over the country for Hindus and at this juncture, the BJP is ruling at the Centre. In the last nine and half years, the government — with clarity over ideologies — has been governing without giving room to corruption. Taking our country to the league of developed nations is also undertaken under the leadership of PM Modi,” Vijayendra said.

“When people were celebrating the inauguration of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, the Congress government had arrested Kar Sevak Srikanth Poojari in Hubballi and resorted to politics of hatred. The law-and-order system has collapsed in the state,” he added.

Meanwhile, Jagadish Shettar was extended a warm welcome by all BJP party leaders. The meeting was held in the presence of Union minister Bhupendra Yadav, who presided over it.
