Bengaluru City Police on Thursday, 22 October, have arrested a 25-year-old migrant worker identified as Ali, from Bihar’s Araria district, for allegedly posting an AI-generated video that falsely showed a bomb blast at Vidhana Soudha.

The video appeared on Tuesday, 20, on the Instagram account “jnx__king__h_g”. It began with real footage recorded outside Vidhana Soudha, then used AI-powered visual effects to simulate a massive explosion tearing through the building. It was posted with the caption “Vidhanasabha Uda Diya Bam se,” roughly meaning “Blew up the Vidhana Sabha with a bomb.”

According to the complaint, Police Inspector S.P Kumar Swamy of Vidhana Soudha Police Station spotted the post during routine social media monitoring at around 9:26 am on Tuesday.

Police then registered an FIR under Sections 353(1)(b) and 353(2) of the BNS, 2023, which deal with statements or content that cause public fear or alarm.

Police say the video was against the government and public peace, and that it was circulated electronically to create fear among the public. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Investigators traced the IP logs and digital trails linked to the account, which led them to Ali’s residence in the city. He remains in custody and is being questioned.

Officials are trying to establish his motive.
