Bengaluru metro’s much-delayed yellow line received the statutory safety clearance on Friday, 1 August, according to an official from the BMRCL.
Operations on the line, which will connect RV road to Bommasandara, may begin by 15 August, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) MD M Maheshwar Rao had earlier publicly announced.
The fully elevated corridor, which features 16 stations and driverless trains, was earlier slated for completion in 2021.
On 5 July, 2025, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya led a huge protest demanding immediate opening of the line. Citizens had then demanded that the line be opened by 15 August at the latest.
Surya had also warned of intensifying protests if the August deadline was not met.
