A case of a doctor allegedly murdering his doctor wife has come to light in Bengaluru, on Wednesday, 15 October.
While the incident happened in April, the police arrested the accused on Wednesday following FSL report received recently. According to the police, the husband Dr. Mahendra Reddy murdered his wife Dr. Kruthika M Reddy by giving her anaesthesia.
According to reports, Dr Mahendra Reddy is a surgeon and Dr Kruthika was a dermatologist.
Details shared by the police state that the victim residing in Ayyappa Block, Munnekollu under Marathahalli Police Station, fell ill on 21 April, and was taken to a nearby hospital. The hospital doctors examined the patient who was brought in sick and confirmed that she was already dead.
A unnatural death report case was registered in this regard at Marathahalli Police Station. The SOCO (Scene of Crime Officer) team then conducted a proper spot check at the crime scene and collected the cannula set, injection tube and other items used in the crime and handed them over to the investigators for further action.
On the same day, in April, the investigators also collected viscera samples from the body to find out the real cause of death and sent them to the FSL for expert opinion. FSL experts examined the viscera samples, and expressed the opinion that the anaesthetic substance (Propofol) was found in the deceased’s body parts.

The deceased’s father filed a complaint at the Marathi Halli Police Station on 13 October, accusing the husband, a doctor by profession, of committing the murder.
The Marathi Halli police, who conducted the investigation, took the complainant’s son-in-law into custody from Manipal in Udupi on Tuesday, 14 October, and the investigation is in progress.
The police reclassified the case as murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
